OST for Guillermo del Toro’s monster bashing Pacific Rim. When posed with how the hell to soundtrack a skyscraper-sized machine punching Kaiju in the face until they die Ramin Djawadi enlisted some guest help from Tom Morello and Priscilla Ahn. The result being a huge, riff laden score with heavy electronics and guitar licks.

There's a nice mix of intensity and melody in the Pacific Rim score. The guitar is used quite frequently, something I love in movie scores because it is somewhat uncommon. The first few tracks on the album capture your interest immediately and place you in that world, and then fortunately the rest of the album continues to provide a quality music experience. With Guillermo del Toro's wonderfully imaginative and visually stunning playground of monsters and machines as inspiration, Ramin Djawadi has constructed maybe the best score of his career.
