House producer and Coldplay helper Jon Hopkins has done a lot since Opalescent, but his debut record now gets a reissue after fifteen years in the game. It was released to Just Label who largely dealt in beautified ambient music, and Hopkins sentimental sound was well suited to their whims -- that said, his music introduced different extremities, with his thunderous rhythmic ideas coupled with a more pastoral sound.

7/10 DEYA ALVERMAN Customer review, 22nd May 2018
I remember the first time I met Jon hopkins, it was in a small art gallery and he was in a small corner playing his tunes. It was phisically invisible but musically audiable. The second time was three years after in a festival in Bologna (Italy). He played between Gold Panda and Moderat. I remember all people around were talking, drinking, laughing, screaming... at some point... stop! It was like everybody in the same time were thinking "what the fuck is that?" Jon Hopkins was starting to play. He is able to change the "clima", incredible sound. Gold Panda stayed there to take a look what he was doing. This is the reason why Opalascent reissue has a sense. Fans can finally play the early works of Mr. Hopkins on vinyl. Opalescent include a lot of Jon 90's influences coming from jungle music restyled in his unique way to develope tunes and experimentations. Jon Hopkins still one of the few electronic artists that you can't miss today.
