Dream Catalogue have teamed up with VIRTUALIFE to bring you -- FINALLY! -- Ruf Dug’s first full album for the imprint, and their latest spa treatment in cassette tape form, ‘Treatment 32’. Rejoice, and soak up the audio bubbles. It’s an experience that promises ‘Full psychic rejuvenation’. Hmm, I predict a progressively darkening ride with machines but I could be wrong.

Ruf Dug wrote the majority of the record whilst travelling on trains or sitting in departure lounges. It’s a journey in the proper sense of the word, as Dug brings the chaotic atmosphere of touring across the continent, his start-stop-start experiences of djing between transits, and influences from vaporwave, downtempo, ambient and new age all pulling in to the melange of sounds on the tape. The ride -- one track at 30-or-so minutes on each side -- starts fluffily and pleasantly enough, the synths and pads all soft and light, evoking hazy nostalgia before slowly but steadfastly ploughing an increasingly deeper furrow, implanting shifting and morphing images and memories into your cerebral cortex as it does so. As the sounds permeate deeper the synths find more space in which to weave their deceptively gauze-like layers before these too gain more density as more experimental noise and forest sounds add to the amorphous mix.

An album which will help you to explore your deeper consciousness. Or one to make you feel like you are on drugs, or wish you were perhaps. Maybe.
