High time for some Pearl Jam reissues to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the No Code-heralded next phase of their career. Yield, their fifth album, was originally released in 1998, and finds the band in proper alt-rock mode. This reissue, the first time Yield has been on vinyl since back-in-the-day, is out on Legacy in a die-cut jacket.

8/10 Jack Customer review, 4th September 2016

The most telling moment on Pearl Jam's fifth album comes midway through the third song, No Way, when vocalist Eddie Vedder, intones the revealing line: "I stopped trying to make a difference/I'm not trying to make a difference". Yield finds Pearl Jam and producer Brendan O'Brien putting the revolution on hold, ditching the punk rock values evinced on their last two albums and returning to big, brash, stars-and-bars arena rock. Yield is excellent in its focus and power from the old days while still moving forward with its ideas.
