Alpine Diskomiks – Sin In Space Pt.2 by The Orb

Old electronic legends The Orb get remixed by newer electronic legend Prins Thomas, who takes a track from recent Orb album Alpine and takes it off in 3 different directions. 2 are variations on that space-disco theme that Thomas handles so nicely, and the third is a beat-free new agey vibe. Alpine Diskomiks - Sin In Space Pt. 1 is out on Kompakt.

A nice entry for the Orb and, like Moonbuilding, a return to their earlier (and legendary) sound. These tracks are a good deal more ambient, which isn't a bad thing, but don't quit hit the Fehlmann/Patterson sweet spot quite the way Moonbuilding did. Still, I'll take what I can get and welcome anything the Orb have to offer in the vein of their classic stuff. It's hard to keep up with The Orb, they released Moonbuilding 2703 AD just a year before this, and then this album. But that is good for fans.
