Second album by Hole, first released in 1994 during a busy time in Courtney Love’s life. The grunge hardcore thrashings of their debut were still present, but coated with a poppier sheen and with clearer, catchier song constructions. Live Through This is possibly Hole’s finest record, and it is receiving a vinyl reissue courtesy of Universal.

9/10 The Doc Customer review, 12th July 2016
Everyone knows that Courtney Love is absolutely off-her-tits mad, but I think sometimes people let that get in the way when judging her as an artist. Sure, the vast majority of her recent work is a proper load of old arsewater, but back in the day she had a pretty singular vision and this belting album is pretty much the complete realisation of it.
Live Through This is a great album from start to finish, and there isn't really a bad track on it. Violet, Plump, Jennifer's Body, Rock Star and - of course - Doll Parts are all classic songs, and the rest of the album is pretty strong too. I don't think she's ever given enough credit for the quality of her lyrics, and there are some brilliant ones here - "I fake it so real I am beyond fake" from Doll Parts, for example, or "I don't really miss God/but I sure miss Santa Claus" from Gutless. The guitars pack a real punch, and despite the rough vocals and her propensity to break into screaming, it's a surprisingly melodic listen too.
I've had this since it came out and it's never been far away from my listening pile so I'm kinda biased, but if you ask me this is one of the best alt-rock records of the 1990s. The original pressings of it sell for a fortune now so it's great to see it reissued on vinyl at last.
8/10 Jack Customer review, 11th July 2016
Live Through This is probably Hole's finest album with its raw angst-riddled lyrics and Courtney's eviscerating vocals. You can hear the fury in Courtney's vocals as she tears through songs like "Miss World" and the chorus in "Asking For It". Live Through This isn't the most melodic album I have heard from the '90s and at times I get tired of Courtney's screaming. There were a lot of rumours going around at the time that Kurt actually helped on most of the tracks to this one and if its true Live Through This is all the better for it.
