Telephone by The Districts

Debut full-length album from The Districts, who manage to write and record the whole thing before they even left high school! Nicely done guys. Telephone, from 2012, is an Americana-rock record driven by a rootsy guitar sound and full-bodied vocals that have an impressive amount of character for one so young. 9 tracks pressed to vinyl, with a download code for the full 13 included.

Vinyl LP £17.99 FP14331

Impressive debut album - so glad someone recommended this band or I may never have heard of them considering the lack of attention they've received. The singer's voice is raw and soulful; and musically speaking, there is enough variety here to sustain the listener's attention. Many of the tracks are standard (albeit, pretty good) indie folk-rock fare, however it is the anomalies - such as the quietly poignant Sing Me Sweetly and the intense rambunctiousness of Piano Song - that make this album truly memorable.
