EP01 by Dream Wife

Dream Wife have been billed as “the most exciting band in the UK” (by their own record label) and their jangly, raw guitar pop is enough to get me excited. The trio formed at art school in Brighton and started making their mix of riff pop and candy punk.

Dream Wife are an up and coming raw guitar rawwwwwk band who have a rather naff sound that reminds me of nothing else but Transvision Vamp. On 'Hey Heartbreaker' the band have a ballsy guitar sound and 'attitoode' laden vocals but as hard as I might look I can't find a catchy hook anywhere.  This renders the track absolutely pointless to anyone who isn't just here to remember Wendy James and her gang.

Marginally better is 'Kids' which still has that awful guitar sound but has a neat chord sequence in the verses and some chunky chords on the chorus on which the band whoop and holler atop. It sounds like the sort of band who would have been third on the bill to Mansun in some godforsaken backwater in 1994 however Manic Street Preachers still sound like that to me and it hasn't done them any harm at all.
