Brand new record from Salt Lake City doom/chamber metal group SubRosa. Their previous album “More Constant Than The Gods” got praise across the known universe and this is said to be their biggest and most expansive yet. Their previous vinyl editions are not attainable for neither love nor money so this one is sure to be a must-buy for fans and collectors alike.

As a whole I find that the album works because it is so different, and perhaps to those that like strictly formulated music this should be ignored. Violins can be used to great effect in metal. In actual fact I don't think I've ever complained about a metal band that's used them other than if they aren't used as prominently as I'd like them to be. SubRosa don't get any negative marks for that, as the violins are among the main reasons for this album being so different. Personally I feel that SubRosa are really one-of-a-kind, and it's an achievement that they've managed to make me enjoy an album from a genre that I would normally dislike at all, let alone to this extent. Perhaps this is more suited to sludge/stoner/doom enthusiasts than myself, but I think anyone who's after something that they haven't heard before will find this to be an intriguing release.
