Easy to forget that free jazz pioneer Ornette Coleman and movie soundtrack composer Howard Shore (he scored Lord of the Rings y’know) once collaborated, but they did: and on a William Burroughs adaptation too! The accompaniment to the famously disgusting Naked Lunch is presented here on vinyl for the first time ever, in brand new artwork, courtesy of Mondo.

- Naked Lunch - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by Howard Shore & Ornette Coleman performed by The London Philharmonic Orchestra
8/10 Jack 15th June 2016
I've been listening to this work since it was first available. This is an absolutely brilliant work from Shore featuring Ornette Coleman. The music is extremely moody, and not easy to focus on. In the film, the music often seems to be coming from the apartment next door, almost as natural sounds. This is a series of brilliant compositions played by orchestra and the inimitable Ornette Coleman (got to love his soloing) so the compositions are in a sense really collaborations between Shore and Coleman.
