Dawn Of The Double by The Double

The Double (a duo featuring Emmett Kelly of Cairo Gang and Jim White of Dirty Three!) have identified Dawn Of The Double as a kind of twist to Rhys Chatham’s noisy minimal classic ‘Guitar Trio’: guitar and drums perpetually accelerating into amplified bliss. Except here, you can (and should) dance to it as well as lose your mind. LP on In The Red

10/10 Simon S 13th July 2016

Ahh man, this record is the beez kneez! Both rocking and meditative, in the best way possible. Just guitar (mainly an E chord) and drums, doing the ol' Diddley for about 40 minutes. But don't get me wrong, it never gets boring!

Slight alternations by both participants keeps the piece moving forward and the listener on toes. The music really grabs hold of you and makes you jerk your legs in perpetual motion.

For fans of music that can be played by apes but only made up by geniuses. Music that makes you wanna quit your dayjob as a dentist and start smoking cigarettes instead. Really great stuff!
