Deep in the heart of post-industrial techno temple Berghain, ace producers work day and night to supply the world with stern techno killers. Answer Code Request is one of those producers, and he’s excelled himself with the Neume EP, which even works some UK garage vibes into the techno brew at one point. Out on the Berghain’s own Ostgut Ton label.

I'm currently imagining post-Brexit Britain with this slice of grey dystopian techno from Berlin, a city it will be more difficult to just wander over to or perhaps live. Imagine all the underground Berlin dwelling UK techno producers will have to relocate back to Banbury.
Anyway this is gritty and propulsive, with skittering repetitive beats and the kind of bass line that could only be written by someone living in a country isolated from the rest of the world. Overleaf, there’s a slow jam with booming baps and in and out synth and later on some tricky minimal techno into which seeps a beautiful haunting drifty synth motif. I now feel completely hopeless and this has been the perfect soundtrack.
