Beautify Junkyards sound like the perfect Ghost Box band. Their music is full of hazy 1960s memories, harpsichords and hazed out vocals. We hear bits of Broadcast, Pink Floyd and Nick Nicely in their swirling sound. This limited release on the Other Voices series should turn a few people on who missed their  2015 album 'The Beast Shouted Love'.

8/10 Jamie Staff review, 13 June 2016

Syd Barrett is alive and he has recorded with Broadcast! Oh wait no, it’s the new 45 from Ghost Box. Their latest in their ‘Other Voices’ series of singles features Lisbon six-piece -- SIX: Count ‘em, 3 x Joao, Rita, Antonio and Sergue! Making up the harmonic sound of Beautify Junkyards.

They bring the sweet saudade of traditional Portuguese fado and mix it with some folksy pastoral wyrrd-ry and the sort of minutiae-level attention to melodic detail of Brum’s finest. And it is all really rather pleasant. ‘Constant Flux’ on the A side weaves those pretty synths and deftly picked acoustic guitar around each other like fronds swaying by the river Ouse. ‘Piramide’ on the flip features the attractively soft voice of Rita Vian, singing in Portuguese against the twinkling harmonics of her bandmates. Gentle bossa guitar mixes with mystical sounding synth and organ. A very listenable two-tracker.
