Hot on the heels of his ‘Modern Pressure’ long player for Type, Melbourne based producer Kane Ikin joins ranks alongside Madteo, Joey Anderson, Innerspace Halflife, Nuel etc. with an appearance on Parisian label Latency Recordings.

5-track EP ‘Basalt Crush’ although clearly electronic has a real organic, earthy quality that’s not easy to translate into words...

Slow moving, droning,  zoned, dubby, eerie soundscapes, off kilter rhythms and huge sub bass combine to create what sounds like a tribe on a lost planet beating drums and sheet metal rather than the work of one man and a computer/ synths or whatever. The tracks feel immense, huge in scale - volume really rewards. Ikin conjures worlds/places that feel authentic despite their synthetic means of construction.

He’s bloody good this guy.
