Fronted by the infamous and only constant member, Anton Newcombe, Brian Jonestown Massacre have seen more than twenty members pass through their ranks down the years but the quality has rarely erred. Although their sound is now well defined, different influences are picked up through the years. Bout Des Doigts sees the band re-introducing Eastern influences into their sound, but in a way that only Anton Newcombe could. The 10” vinyl single is backed with Fingertips.

A heavily touring band these days and why not? To celebrate their appearances at various things over the summer, BJM issue a new 10" - a format they seem to enjoy. 'Bout Des Dogts' is a much bootlegged track which has now been recorded and stuck on vinyl for your listening delight. The A and the B side are basically the same thing sung in different languages but it's a great track so I'm happy to hear it twice. It's classic BJM with a lazily spun chord sequence and Pixies-style lead guitar. The vocals are dreamily provided by Tess Parks on the B side and equally dreamy (in French) by Rike (Friedrike) Bienert on the A side.
The whole thing has that LA heat haze stoner thing going on in spades despite being recorded in chilly Berlin and I'm happy to just sit here listening to it all days as it rolls round and around and around and around...............
