All the sounds on this record were created using the EMS Synthi AKS, which was one of the first synthesizers available (1971) and made legendary by Pink Floyd, Brian Eno, and The Polyphonic Workshop. Ignition of the Sun is a psychedelic analogue electronics trip back to the 70s. Perfect for any modular obsessives.

Here we have The Future Sound of London doing what they do best, taking old timey analogue gear and breathing new life into it. Recorded entirely on a EMS Synthi AKS, FSOL member Brian Dougans' father Bill bought one of the first 10 Synthi units available in the UK, having worked for the BBC Radiophonic Workshop in the early 1970s. The album is an analogue fetishist's dream, proggy patterns swirl and unwind over pulsing modular rhythms. The whole thing has a very live-to-tape feel to it, and the vinyl album mix is entirely different from the CD mix, having 4 extra tracks, and editing others to fit into the grooves of the record. A very chillaxed, ambient and stoney album, perfect for midnight revelations.
