From The Muddy Banks Of The Wishkah is the lesser-known Nirvana album: rather than the stripped-back acoustics of MTV Unplugged, it features full-bore amplified rock action. With material representing 1989 through to 1994, it makes for a potent intro into Kurt and co’s powers as a loud live band. Double LP reissue.

6/10 The Doc 23rd May 2016

Have had this since it came out on CD way back in 1996 or whenever the hell it was. Nirvana were a great band and my first musical love (I'm old enough to have got Nevermind when it came out. F*ck!) and I thought this was brilliant at the time, but these days there are literally thousands and thousands of live recordings of this band to be found by anyone with half a brain and an internet connection, so why anyone would want to shell out top dollar for it is beyond me. Yes, the songs are still great and these are decent recordings of them, but to me this reissue serves no purpose but to throw fuel on the fire of the Cobain industry and make a load of fat, rich record execs even richer. Booooooo.
