A wide range of exciting experimental music is represented on Cosmic Machine’s The Sequel, which compiles some choice pieces of French space-jams from the 70’s and 80’s. Not many of the artists will be familiar to the average listener (Moon Birds? Arpadys?), but a few spins will reveal their forward-looking groove wonder. On Because Music.

This is simply a stunning package all around (in its vinyl form). Packaged as a heavy cardboard gatefold, with high gloss printing on the exteriors and detailed artwork and intro within, it's a piece to behold. The 2LP set also generously comes with the CD version in a PVC pouch, containing the 20-page booklet from that version (featuring more artwork, track-by-track commentary and interviews with two contributing artists). The CD version is a mini-vinyl replica, so the artwork and contents are maintained, but I would say this is one to have in large format given the attention to detail that went into it.
Musically, entirely an extension of the first set, filled with a range of tripped-out electronic and progressive styles, if perhaps slightly more laid back and less disco overall than the first volume. If you're fan of part one, or curious and openminded, you won't go wrong here, though if meandering cosmic early electronica isn't your thing, I don't know that this would convince you.
Overall, highly recommended!
