Hannah Lou Clark follows up her attention-grabbing Silent Type EP with It’s Your Love, a new set of songs whose genesis lie in touring. Definitely plenty of energy flying around, though without losing the introspective aspect of the lyrics. Strong indie rock-pop from Clark here. 12” EP release on the Quatre Femmes Records label.
7/10 Clinton Staff review, 20 April 2016
Remember what you were doing in November 2014? Turns out at some stage I was listening to Hannah Lou Clark and being a bit impressed. I compared her to PJ Harvey then and I'm about to do it now - just you watch. 'It's Your Love' comes haring out of the traps with a slice of easi-listen PJ Harvey rock with a chorus that is catchy but repetitive after several times round but repetitive sells especially to the young people with phones. Not quite as obvious is the slower 'Cowboy Joe' which users a drum machine to keep time to some lovely guitar picking and nervous, wracked vocals. This probably showcases Clark's talents more than the more obvious title track. A nice little yearner.
There's also a third track listed on the credits but when I press the Cd player nothing happens.
