8/10 Jamie Staff review, 14 March 2016

This limited and exclusive CDr release marks the first date this year in Home Normal's new series of live recordings. So now the numbers make sense! 5th March 2016. Huh. Apparently they've recently relocated their stable from Japan to Blighty. I actually thought they were here already. Hmm. Anyway... as well as containing an original, vintage photograph - and who doesn't love those - the music contained herein is every bit as heart-meltingly wonderful as you would expect.

On the opening track, "Londres", Berg and Norbury trade violin and cello harmonies in a moonlit glade serenade; although I know for a fact there aren't many trees in that London. A toy piano chimes and the chimes ring on Guzzetti's compact and bijou "A Promise".

Christoph Berg plays the most tranquil, sparsely meditative piano on his solo contribution, the miniature and perfectly-formed "Samedi". Stefano Guzzetti plays winding, weaving upright piano lines set against a texturally perfect string arrangement on the joyful tune "Piggy in the clouds" that ends too soon. Ian Hawgood contributes two frosted piano tunes and Danny Norbury's strings - evoking such sweet sorrow, as is the event of parting with this disc - close out the set. Just lovely.
