Mark E Smith's increasingly loose grip on his back catalogue continues with this vinyl edition of a live gig from 1978. Just look at that sleeve. How in any way does it fit in with the cut and paste collages of the era? It's going to look awful in your collection but at least musically it captures the early Fall at their most intense with a wild 14 track ride through the early bits of their existence. Rare public appearance from Yvonne Pawlett who left, allegedly, to look after her dog.

On paper this should be an amazing album. An early document of The Fall in the ascendency, but it's almost unlistenable. Taken from an ancient hand-held tape recording, the amount of hiss makes it sound like The Fall are playing next door in a rain storm. I understand the historical importance of the event, but whoever listened to the tape and thought it was worthy of a release. Like most of Ozit-Morpheus output, it should have been left as a C Minus graded bootleg tape on Camden Market. One for collectors only. The thought of people unsuspectingly spooning £20+ on this rubbish is heartbreaking
And don't get me started on the cover. Words fail me.
