Donato Dozzy returns with his trademark raw-as-hell analogue house and techno. The Squadra Quadra EP on vinyl 12” from Bunker New York captures his hyper-minimal and refined approach to crafting bangers. He may have been producing for almost twenty years, but he still knows how to surprise a dancefloor.

8/10 Staff review, 23 March 2016

When he’s not twanging jaw harps, collaborating with Neel as Voices From The Lake, playing Bee Mask or processing Anna Caragnano’s vocals - Thee Italian Techno Stallion Donato Dozzy knocks out some mesmerising dancefloor ammunition. Need evidence?

Exhibit A: ‘Quadra Sette’ steamrolls ever forwards with a ceaseless momentum constructed  from a breakbeat like skeleton and fuelled by deep sub-bass throbs and nuanced filtering.

The real gem though is Exhibit B:  Where ‘Quadra Nove’ sounds like a Mike Parker production with 20,000 volts shoved up his ass. Here Dozzy lays down some satisfyingly tough kicks and a wriggling, pulsating synth like pure brain searing electricity. This is deep throbbing techno that gets even more zoned with eerie washes of spectral synth. It’s like being electrocuted by sound --  I can feel the voltage coursing through my body and feel like I’m glowing like the Readybrek kid. Proper heavy tackle.
