Hawkwind have been labeled with every type of forward-thinking rock music, from prog and space-rock, to krautrock and psych. On The Machine Stops, the band expand even further, incorporating more electronic elements for a grand concept album retelling a sci-fi classic. It’s nice and heavy too.
8/10 Jack Customer review, 13th December 2016
A solid step in the right direction after the last two disappointing studio albums, (Onward and Blood of the Earth). The Machine Stops is based on the E.M. Forster's 1909 classic tale of a futuristic society having to live in total isolation. Long time fans who might have gone astray should jump on this album immediately. Though this record isn't in the league of their classic seventies releases, it is a solid four star album that I would rate in their top ten, and deserves heavy rotation for all fans of Hawkwind.
