8/10 The Doc 4th May 2016

Interesting early(ish) release from Manchester miserablists. This is basically the sound of someone who's listened to an awful lot of BJM - especially Thank God For Mental Illness - and thought, you know what? It sounds like a piece of piss to make a record like that. And so it proves. Acoustics are strummed, tambourines are occasionally shaken, vocals are drawled, druggily, and the whole thing rambles on in a rather pleasant, slow-burning manner, like that warm fuzzy buzz you get from mixing dizzies with wine.

Think BJM, think Stoned and Dethroned, think Jason Pierce with nothing but a guitar and a bag of brown for company......It's nowhere near as interesting as Haunted or The Perfect Enemy For God, and in some respects it's like listening to a completely different band, but it's strangely compelling in its own little way, although fuck only knows how it's managed to get three million hits on YouTube. Well worth a look for fans of lo-fi, ramshackle psych.
