Solar Flares is a 1974 work of high-grade library music that takes loungey-jazz up into the stratosphere to float around. Sven Libaek guides his orchestra into some very atmospheric territory, the acoustic instruments supported by an early Australian synthesiser, the Qasar. Very rare in its original pressing, Solar Flares is now reissued by Votary.

Wonderful stuff. Sven does it again and this time he isnt joking. An album ogf majestic proportions, it swirls like a kite on a summers day and bobs about like a crisp packet on a choppy summer sea. Yes this is what youve been waiting for, this is summer but with a twist, the twist is almost cola like in its clarity. Fantastic stuff, the world turns and so does this piece of majestic vinyl as the needle hits the groove and on it turns on a journey. Aha a journet to where i hear you ask?? That journey is in your mind, it could be the cumbrian walk from 1987 or that trip to butlins in 1982, whatever it is sven nails it in a groove of such stunning baroque chamber pop elitism your jaw will drop to the floor. He pulls out all the stops and why not? This is magnus opus this is the grande ball room blitz.
