Psychedelic bedroom pop from Palace’s bassist Skinshape. On Oracolo Will Dorey takes over all the instrumental duties and produces a joyous, dense and groove-heavy vinyl LP and CD. Borrowing influences from hip-hop, soul and funk, but spun through his unique one-man band aesthetic, Dorey is one to watch this year. New on Beatnik Creative.
7/10 Max Cave Customer review, 13th September 2016
This album is packed with progressive and somewhat psychedelic tracks characterised by echoing wah shimmers on the guitar along with a repetitive and steady bass line. The vocals mix in with the instruments under the same eerie mood creating a wonderful blend of sound.
Oracolo starts with an instrumental ('Mandala') which sets the tone for the album. This is then followed by a series of dreamy songs under slow and steady drum beats. If this album were to have one downfall it would be that there is not too much contrast in the songs it contains. That said, the moods and atmospheres created would definitely make up for it.
