The Polytechnic Youth label are all about sharp minimal synth numbers, released in tightly limited editions. This new lathe-cut 7” from Mitra Mitra is no different, with aloof vocals over a cold sheen of synth and drum machine. Delicious. Indecisive Split Decision / Heat is limited to 99 copies, move fast if you want one!

Polytechnic Youth is a collectible label specialising in lathe cuts of weird electronic music. The first track I’ve put on here the music keeps stopping - is this intentional? Is this some kind of locked groove experiment or is there an issue with the pressing? Ah. You are supposed to play the music from the inside out  - my mistake.    Once the music does get going it sounds like it was recorded in 1980. Dark electronics with monotone female vocals. Overleaf they use the same dark synth tones but this time the vocals are sweeter and sound more like Trish Keenan. Nice voice. It harks back to those more innocent times when people were really, really scared of wires.
