A return to in-print and on-vinyl status for a few Sonic Youth albums. 1995’s Washing Machine contains examples of the band in weirded 60’s girl-group mode (‘Little Trouble Girl’), as well as ‘The Diamond Sea’, the only 20+ minute, whole-side noise jams ever to make it to a ‘proper’ Sonic Youth studio album. Double LP reissue.

9/10 Jack Customer review, 23rd November 2015

Washing Machine did not arrive with the critical praise of Daydream Nation and did not have the buzz of expectation like Dirty or Goo. It took the band to a new level of sound, where they not only wanted to announce their presence with authority but also wanted you to rest easy knowing they were there to protect you. This isn't just a good's a classic. Most of the people who criticise this album either don't understand Sonic Youth or haven't given it a fair hearing. It has some of the most dreamy songs the band has ever written.
