Self-released LP from John T. Gast, who’s precise identity remains unclear: he’s emerged from the same reality-and-truth-warping wormhole as Hype Williams, so probably best not to hunt to deeply. Anyway, the productions on Invocations II (The Obelisk of TJ / Age of Apathy Tape are strong and inventive, woozy and grainy and shuffly. Nice.

- Invocations II (The Obelisk of TJ // Age of Apathy Tape) by John T. Gast
Long overdue vinylization of this Blowing Up The Workshop mixtape mp3 that’s been lurking in cyberspace for the past coupla years.
The mysterious John T. Gast did an album for Planet Mu and has collaborated with Inga Copeland and shares a common weird/ zoned aesthetic to early Hype Williams. ‘Invocations II (The Obelisk of TJ // Age of Apathy Tape’ is n occasionally bizarre, lysergic trip through manipulated samples, sound collage, lo-fi ambient soundscapes, foggy Opal Tapes style house/ techno, stoned electronics, field recordings and plunderphonics.
