A pair of EPs released together (just don’t call it an album!) by Vlimmer, a Berlin resident. He doesn’t sound too happy, and nor do his synths and 80’s drum machines. The CDs of EP I / EP II actually come packaged in a very nice black wooden box, with room left over to fill in the next two EPs, due next year. On Blackjack Illuminist Records.

8/10 Clinton Staff review, 12 November 2015Housed in a wooden box and coming on four different EPs which you then put in the box, this is one of this week’s most convoluted releases. From the looks of it any right minded person would think it’s obscure electronica but you'd be wrong....it’s not. Instead we get really interesting dark wave on the opening ’Schimmer’ with pulsating deep bass lines, shards of guitar scree and the slightly concerning sound of somebody playing a zither. They deal with the sort of deep atmospheres usually used to soundtrack concrete. I’m really impressed with the bass playing on here it’s really dubby and pulsy and hits really interesting notes. I guess they’ve listened to Joy Division quite a bit and probably own plenty dark wave comps. It’s not fun as such but there’s melodies here and I hear bits of early TV on the Radio. We have two EPs in stock along with the box. Others to follow. Really interesting stuff
