Submerged avant-techno from the duo of Francis Harris and Gabe Hedrick: together they form Aris Kindt. Debut album Floods was inspired by the work of the wonderful author W.G. Sebald: consequently it woozes in and out of the past and the present, of recognisable forms and attractive abstraction. CD or slate grey vinyl on Harris’ Scissor & Thread label.

8/10 Clinton Staff review, 09 December 2015Topical title. This is another one of those records that takes the essence of techno but isn’t really techno in a conventional sense. 'Now Grey’ sets the monochrome tone with the evocative battering of percussion and the flickering of grainy distortion. The title track emerges from the murk with pulsating underwater (natch) beats and that 3am synth steering enjoyed by the best of dub techno. It pulsates and quivers with rolling reverb and dubbed out splices of synth creating a bloused out sound world for those who can’t get enough Deepchord, Echocord or anything else with chord/cord in the name. The track builds beautifully from it’s muted origins with layered synths and eerie countermelodies spilling from the mix. And to answer your question yes it crackles. Later on this lovely album ‘Snowbird’ fuzzes out ambient with swells of distortion and whining underground synths whilst bass kicks pulsate beneath. Glorious melancholy.
