Hologram Teen is the solo project of Morgane Lhote, who, I think it is worth mentioning, used to be in goddamn Stereolab! Rad. Post-Apocalypteacakes / Tracksuit Minotaur is a busily inventive 7”, with each track combining drum machines and synth sweeps from the 70’s with miscellaneous other bits (like a gnarly guitar). Clear 7” vinyl on Deep Distance.

Morgan Lhote sounds like it could be an anagram but it's actually a real person. She has a background in two bands that I like a lot: most notably Stereolab, but also the Projects.   This is the first fruits of her solo endeavours and what we have is a kind of dark disco with lots of horror film soundtrack influences. She probably sums it up best herself when she self describes the opening ‘Post-Apocalypteacakes’ (christ on a bike!) as Fabio Frizzi meets Grandmaster Flash… which is pretty much exactly what it sounds like. Let’s just say it’s discordant and very disconcerting for the discotheque.   Overleaf is ’Tracksuit Minotaur’ which has bleeping electronics and an eerie sample about witches. The synths are again discordant and create an air of extreme unease which I’m sure is exactly the point. Unusual stuff… but I’m a bit scared.
