A comprehensive reissue package of The Velvet Underground’s album Loaded, which has been Reloaded for its 45th anniversary. The record has been remastered in stereo and in mono, and two live shows from the time are also presented. And lots of demoes and rarities. And an audio DVD with different mixes. That’s 6 whole discs people!

Loaded is most people's least favourite VU album (ignoring the Lou-less Squeeze) but there is no denying it's got some classic songs within.
This 45th Anniversary deluxe edition doesn't contain a great deal of material that wasn't already released as part of the "Fully Loaded" double CD edition over a decade ago, in fact it omits almost as much as it leaves in. What's new? A sonic abomination live tape that is verging on the unlistenable, if it wasn't for the unusual 3 piece line-up (no drummer so it's pretty much VU unplugged) and a 5.1 surround sound mix of the main album which should keep the audiophiles happy.
What's not new but baffling? A cut down version of the Max's Kansas City show which has already been released in full elsewhere and a mono fold-down of the main LP that claims to be a radio promo version, but there is no supporting evidence to say this is genuine and not just a switch-flick at the re-mastering stage
So to sum up - you get a flat version, a stereo version and surround version to choose from, plus a bunch of outtakes and some live stuff that you've probably already got, or don't really need. A shame that the 45th anniversary series has ended like this, as the other VU editions have been nothing short of brilliant. Still - they all sit nicely together on the shelf. Some great liner notes and photos as always though. Completists only though I think
