Ennio Morricone soundtracks are always worth hearing, but it is his Spaghetti Western work that really brought him his fame, at least in English-speaking countries. The Big Gundown is just such a soundtrack, sweeping memorably across the landscape. Remastered double LP in a deluxe gatefold sleeve. On Mondo.

8/10 Jack Customer review, 9th March 2018

This score is vastly different from his other work but is of the same high quality. It moves from sombre/sensual (The Widow) to humorous (The Bullfight) to longing (Cuchillo's cues) to the typical showdown music (The Gundown). The instrumentation in the first part is outstanding; an excellent example of Morricone's use of unusual instruments but it is Part 2 that is my favourite. A pounding piano and electric guitar drive which then adds to the vocals of Edda Dell'Orso, carrying the Run, Man, Run melody.
