Air Max ‘97 has set up a new label, Decisions. The label’s intentions are to move people with music, focusing on dancefloor tunes on vinyl and digital formats. Core Work and Expenditure are two brooding yet effective cuts to showcase the new label’s ethos. According to Taskforce, both sides are "certifiable bangers".
8/10 Ant Staff review, 29 October 2015
Artist name of the week must surely be rewarded to Air Max ‘97. This guy has had stuff out on Liminal Sounds and Trax Couture but this is the first thing I’ve heard by him. It happens to be on the man’s newly minted DECISIONS label and all.
‘Corework’ on the top-side gets busy with stomping kicks and finger clickin’ percussion with a hovering UFO type synth that reminds me a bit of Jeff Mills. The bells are pretty trippy so it’s kinda weird but danceable.
‘Expenditure’ on the bottom-side has a few multi-layered rhythms to lock onto and has a sorta jerky stop/ start energy to it. You’d probably not spin this at home that often but both are fully functional club tracks.
Apparently getting spins from Ben UFO, M.E.S.H., Bill Kouligas, Tzusing, Plastician, Dro Carey etc.
