- What You Won't Do For Love by Junior Boys
Funky good times duo Junior Boys give you sneak peek into their upcoming City Slang album with a 12” on the label run by that Dan Snaith guy. That makes sense since Junior Boy Jeremy Greenspan has already had some pretty interesting and danceable things out on Jiaolong including that amazing one with Laurie Spiegel.
They’ve had that indie disco sort of sound for a while and here it’s all shiny and glistening like the summer anthem that it could have been. Some real funky soul feeling vocals come in which I personally think totally ruins it but appreciate that vocals are ok in dance stuff. It’s pretty housey, a bit electro, lots of synths stuttering around glassy melodies and that. The Instrumental dub is just way way better than the original and allows you to hear the synth lines nice and clearly, so make sure you give that a listen to see if it’ll fit your sets. Folks who are into East India Youth and that bunch of boogiers, keep a look out for the album.
