Someone I know gets sleep paralysis pretty regularly, and by the sounds of it, it isn’t nearly as fun as this makes it out to be. Bouncy 808 beats? Nope, the sonic equivalent of sleep paralysis is probably this. Anyway, Mikron, two brothers from Australia, may or may not have had it themselves. There’s a definite ominous overtone to this, a lot more so than most recent CPU stuff (see Automatic Tasty), but still with the 90s classic synth ‘n’ beats feel. Beats that refuse to play it straight bouncing around under arps that flex, bubble and sparkle. Either A2 or B2 is really good (the sides aren’t labeled) and is a great balance of sparkle and bounce, featuring a low throbbing bass synth near the end. Bleakish robot dancing shapes for weary midnight insomniacs.
