Vom Grill is a pseudonym for Dennis Tyfus, known for the famed Ultra Eczema label among many other things. Knerpen! (Bevel) finds him casting mad tape loops, vocal garble and warble, and electronics together and then cutting everything around into thrilling collages. Out, maybe surprisingly, on Berlin’s PAN label.

8/10 Ant Staff review, 30 September 2015

Vom Grill is the brilliant moniker of Belgian chap Dennis Tyfus. The man at the helm of the Ultra Eczema label, here with some super freaky excursions for PAN. It's good to see the label temporarily retreating from the dancefloor (not that I don’t enjoy that stuff) and putting out the sort of weird shit on which the label was founded.

PAN are right on the money with comparisons to Maurizio Bianchi and Wolf Eyes. So up on the A side; like imagine those guys joined by a squidgy alien, jamming a frenzy of collaged tape loops of barking dogs, banging scrap metal and a piano infested by the cockroaches outta Naked Lunch. You know, the sorta stuff that if you’re average Joe caught you listening to would probably recommend you had an evaluation of your mental health.

Down on the B-side operatic vocals get layered and I swear I can hear Donald Duck in the room skulking about in the distance. Later warped electronic pulses wriggle and squelch around siren like tones before the previously mentioned alien appears to have taken control of Tyfus’s soul and is traveling through his digestive system with a contact mic strapped to his jelly like noggin’; whilst gobbling up and regurgitating the Belgian Waffles he ate for breakfast. If you dig far out, messy Musique concrète and weird tape junk you're most definitely in the right place.
