- Videodrome by Danny Passarella and Perc

Perc takes a break from his techno punishments to join audio-visual crossover guy Danny Passarella as he summons the disturbed sensualities of David Cronenberg and his Videodrome. It’s part of Passarella’s larger project covering voyeurism and definitely sets the peeping tone, both bleak and intimate at the same time. On the whole, the first side is an atonal ambient tapestry with video equipment clicking and spitting static in the background, an electroacoustic red light district. Slow thuds, the echoes of the club, join on ‘Stop’, their solitary insistency hammering deeper into your mind. When the second side comes around, the layers assemble into melodic swells, with the fuzzy unease still peeping in on the sidelines. This is an intense listen, approach with caution and at night, if you can take the spook.
