The Icarus Line are true rockers to the core, though All Things Under Heaven finds them fraying at the edges at points, sometimes straying almost into furious free jazz passages. Warren Ellis of Dirty Three and The Bad Seeds joins them at times, and you know he has taste. L.A. wildness released by the Agitated label.
8/10 Joel Customer review, 26th October 2015
All Things Under Heaven is LP #7 for The Icarus Line, potentially the most underrated rock band of all time. The band has survived drugs, debt, breakdowns and the liberation of Stevie Ray Vaughn's guitar (google it) so the fact that they're seven albums deep is a feat in itself. This album sounds like 80's The Bad Seeds attempting to make a Grinderman album while being fronted by a ghost who worships 1970's Iggy Pop. This album (and the band in general) oozes sleaze and there's a lingering threat of violence on every track, putting the listener on edge for the entire length of the release. A great album by a great band, a touch on the long side, but it's definitely good enough that you can forgive the band for the slightly bloated length of the album. Hedonism at it's finest.
