The Arcs are somewhat of a supergroup featuring The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach, Richard Swift, Leon Michels, Homer Steinweiss and Nick Movshon. Yours, Dreamily is the band debut album, and like a lot of Auerbach’s work has a timelessness to it incorporating elements of psychedelic rock and blues.

“Yours Dreamily” by The Arcs quite obviously has Dan Auerbach involved. It more-or-less sounds like a Black Keys album but there are some subtle differences. The supergroup, for want of a better description, also features singer/songwriter Richard Swift and Homer Steinweiss, the drummer who played with The Dap Kings. The sound is tighter due to Steinweiss’s drumming and there’s an otherworldliness to the songs that Swift brings.
Parts of “Outta My Mind” – the riff for example – take from psychedelia rather than Auerbach’s usual blues palette. “Everything You Do (You Do For You)” and “Nature’s Child” are very different from Auerbach’s work with The Black Keys and their production definitely points in the direction of Swift. “Rosie (Ooh La la) seems to be the the song that is most influenced by Richard Swift, however. It’s an interesting collaboration but I would have liked to have heard Richard Swift coming to the fore a little more though.
