Two Ragged Soldiers are a duo (yes, there really are two of them) who craft music that straddles the borders between contemporary music and electronica. //Asulya//Water is a two-track 7” that offers a tantalising preview of The Mass, which we will apparently hear later down the line. Limited edition of 300 on Castles in Space.
7/10 Clinton Staff review, 09 July 2015
I don't know too much about these two sonic explorers other than they are from the North of England. A fact which in a perfect world would see them earn them an extra point on their review score - sorry Southerners, but the North must rise again. They are also dads. Dads from the North.
They make delicate sound collages that are both pretty and slightly discomforting. Opener 'Asulya' uses guitar feedback, piano twinkles and prettily plucked acoustic guitar to do its business before some exquisite strings come to the fore. It sounds like it's soundtracking something or other.
Overleaf is another instrumental made out of droning accordion, strings and piano. It's very foreboding but beautiful. I'm finding it hard to come of with a sane comparison but safe to say it's perfectly crafted soundtrack type stuff.
