Leeds-based musicians Ten offer up Hitherto, a world music fusion of droning guitar and creepily chiming glockenspiel. Sounds like there’s a sewing machine chugging away in the background. Hauntingly beautiful piece of work. Out on square 5" vinyl from Twice Removed Records. Limited to 40 copies.

First up for you format fetishers, it’s a lathe cut edition of just 40. The record is square, very thick with grooves in the middle. The pressing is terrible but I’m sure thats part of the fun of such things.
The music (when you can hear it) is lovely slow post rock with fuzzy guitar chords and wandering cello/violin. Very nice indeed. I thought for one horrible moment it was one sided but nope there’s something else overleaf. This one is a kind of like a nightmare in a clock shop with lots of whirring sounds and what I think is clarinet. Odd.
Well worth picking up this as you’ll probably never see the like of it again.
