Ralph & Florian by Kraftwerk

That’s right kids, those super-early Kraftwerk albums that the band have tried to erase from history by doggedly not anthologising them! In a sense you can see why, as this doesn’t fit the pure electronic ethos of later records, but Ralph & Florian is a hell of a record in its own right, with drums and flute joining the early electronics. Komische bliss! Reissued by Crown.

Finally...the early Kraftwerk albums getting a much needed reissue treatment as they are quite rare to come across in the used vinyl market. This one features the duo who are the driving force behind the band after a couple of other members left the band.

The music is largely experimental and sometimes may sound disjointed but it is gives a glimpse into what was coming ahead. One might hear an early demo for Autobahn on one of the tracks on Side A and some other notes which could have evolved into more refined music on their later albums.

The sound quality is good especially the bass which is thundering on some tracks! I have rated it 7/10 as it might not appeal to fans of the later Kraftwerk era but for a krautrock fan this is a must buy.
