The Central Executives are a group deeply in love with a hedonistic 80’s New York long-since faded. Their album, A Walk In The Dark, is a fantasy trip into a basement club or loft party, where the band play their queer-disco-house-punk to an adoring audience of underground freaks. Pretty convincing to be fair. On Golf Channel.

8/10 Andy Customer review, 9th October 2015
Another great album from Golf Channel, a rare 'dance' label whose output is equally as good in long form as in the more traditional 12" format. Following on from albums by Mind Fair and Gala Drop that both featured in a lot of best of 2014 lists we have The Central Executives 'A Walk In The Dark'. Informed by the punk funk groove of 80's New York City, paying tribute to the disco heritage of the great metropolis and putting it all through a deep house blender you end up with an album that wears its nocturnal heart on its sleeve.
Great tunes abound, from the low slung bassline groove of 'Loveray 79' to the sleek classic keys led House sound of 'High Roads' both using female vocals to good effect. Fans of Roisin Murphy will find much to love here. This is a sound in thrall to movements of the past, however this never feels like a rehash or pastiche. The reverence aligned to some excellent production work allows those reference points to be developed into something new and relevant. This may not be for everyone, but those who allow this into their homes will be richly rewarded.
