The Modfather is back. Ahead of the release of Paul Weller’s latest album, Saturn's Pattern, comes the single of the same name. The B-side features a new track, Sun Goes, which will not appear on the album. This then is an essential purchase for die-hard fans to make sure their collection is complete.

4/10 Clinton Staff review, 08 May 2015
I went to the barbers yesterday. I said cut it short on the top, leave it long on the sides, long at the back and please for God’s sake make my face so craggy that you could park a car on it. Then I can look exactly like Paul Weller.
Weller’s so-called ‘experimental years’ have never convinced me. Yes some of the stuff he did with Simon Dine was sort of interesting but the only thing setting this newer stuff apart from his previous ‘dad rock’ stylings is a load of studio effects slapped on. On the basis of ‘Saturns Pattern’ it’s still the same old shit - it’s like putting Weller in a wig and a dress and trying to convince people that he’s Cheryl Cole - it just won’t happen.
On the B side he adopts a worrying cod Jamaican accent on ‘Sun Goes’ which at best sounds a bit like 10CC’s ‘Dreadlock Holiday’ and at worst Mike Read’s 'UKIP Calypso'.

Takin' the piss out of one of musics enduring originators looks like the last reviewer is a low blow from someone who probably cannot even get a tune out a pre programmed pc programme ...where's your tunes buddy? (why do people presume we don't make music, maybe we do!- Clint). He still looks great what ya wanna have him do botox ..dear me go polish your fake teeth and 6 pack.
It's not his best no, the driving beat bringing to mind Neu, key changes are awkward but thats the whole point, he is trying to take his audience into a new area, lets face it going for the charts is hardly a priority now is it for someone nearing 60, he is lucky that he is still around doing what he wants to . Its always been part of his musical career experimenting look at the Style Council you forget what a great band they were ..sorry pop band (true - Clint). When it got too safe he started experimenting and no it's not always a success but someone has to push the boundaries.
He has done it all and keeps churning out challenging music and still has fire and skill. Not everyone gets it and thats fine, but its being rather harsh to attack the old mod for not looking young (it's more about his hair - it's preposterous for a man of 60 though I do concede that he has recently had it cut -Clint) ? You carry on Weller don't play by the rules ..if it was a choice I would pick Weller every time .
