What would it be like to be Scottish? I’ve always wondered because I’ve definitely got the hair for it. Maybe if I was Scottish I’d have been one of the many excited punters squeaking along to Randolph’s Leap’s vibrant performance at Lost Map and Kid Canaveral's annual Christmas Baubles show back in December. Lost Map were impressed enough with the show to tape it and release it on this nice vinyl edition. It has handwritten song titles all in different pen. They must have more time up there in Scotland surely.
Anyway this is bouncy Scottish indie pop with horns a-plenty and breezy acoustic led melodies. At times it makes Belle and Sebastien sound like Jaques Brel it is so relentlessly chipper. I its perky upbeat indie that is so nice and pleasant I can’t hate on it at all. As one happy song with parping horns follows another it begs the question “if I was Scottish would I be as happy as everyone appears to be here?” I truly hope so.
