Tight little split 7” that brings together Sauna Youth and Monotony, although having said that apparently the members are the same for both bands…? Monotony are the more direct of the two, smashing through ‘Luxury Flats’ in just a minute and a half, whereas Sauna Youth’s track is a whole three punky minutes!

6/10 Staff review, 13 May 2015

In the second of this week’s ridiculously incestuous releases, Sauna Youth do a split single with Monotony - both bands containing the exact same people. The name Sauna Youth always bothered me  - can they not come up with anything a smidgeon more original? The music too is the kind of ‘90’s thrashy stuff we’ve heard many times before but what it lacks in originality it makes up with in energy and enthusiasm. ‘Transmitters’ blasts along at a fair rate of knots, hand made for that Marc Riley session.

Overleaf Monotony do a much more shouty punk thing. I can tell they’ve traded instruments as the drums are falling apart and the guitars are seemingly played whilst wearing boxing gloves. Whilst they appear to be having all manner of fun, my ears sadly are not.

After comparing the two bands, I’m happy for them to continue trading as Sauna Youth. This will go quickly so get in fast.
