Blue Moods by Miles Davis is an essential and cool slice of hip ‘50s jazz. His band on this occasion features none other than legendary double bass player Charles Mingus, drummer Elvin Jones, with Teddy Charles and Britt Woodman on vibes and trombone respectively. Rudy Van Gelder captured the magic at his studio in New Jersey in 1955.

7/10 Jack Customer review, 17th June 2015
This record is brief, but very, very sweet. It is, after all, the musical quality that counts, and even though ideally this record should be twice as long, it has the complexity and variety that warrants playing it a second time if one wants to get up to the 'normal' album playing time. Miles is in excellent form, his co-players are also excellent, and this is a truly superlative record, that many more people should buy. You won't regret it if you do, never mind how short it is. It is certainly one of my favourites.
