The Wrasse label are restoring some of old Gallic smoothie Serge Gainsbourg’s singles back into print on limited edition 7 inches, and Lola Rastaquoure is one of them. Here we have the original tracks, plus the frankly quite unexpected addition of dub versions. It would never have occurred to me to combine Serge and dub, but why should labels do what you expect?

9/10 LRK sound system Customer review, 14th August 2015

The original album, "Aux Armes et cætera" was recorded in Kingston, Jamaica featuring the I Trees (Rita Marley, Judy Mowatt and Marcia Griffiths), Sly & Robbie, Ansel Collins, Mickey Chung... and it was the first french reggae issue (1979), and the second european artist recording in the in Jamaica (the first one was Mick Jagger alongside Peter Tosh).

Don't miss the two newer versions on the B side, "Lola R. For Ever" feat. Marianne Faithfull and "Lola Rastaquouère Is Back" an amazing version with Lisa Dainjah who ride the riddim like no other!
